Expiration of Controlled Documents
The Default expiration period for Controlled Documents is one year. The Controlled Documents Manager may change the expiration period when creating or editing the Controlled Document. At the time of expiration, the System will auto-renew the Controlled Document (this is the default condition) if there are pending signatures. The System will check Controlled Documents that have been initiated for expirations once daily according to a time scheduler set in the business policies. An expired Controlled Document cannot be marked, nor can it be used in the Notebook.
Note that the Controlled Documents Manager can manually expire a Controlled Document and then manually renew it.
Expiration of User Actions on Controlled Documents
There is also a time period (set by business policy) during which users must mark a Controlled Document (agree or disagree). The system will send out a Notification (as determined by business policy) to warn any users who have not yet marked the controlled document that it will expire soon.
