CERF ELN can store data and information files of any type. When a CERF user checks-out a file, the file’s data/information is rendered and is usable in the file’s native application.
Provided below is a list of file types that CERF displays in-line without need for the file’s native application. If there is a desire to display a new file type in-line, then a new plugin may be created to accommodate the new file type. Otherwise, a characteristic screenshot or other image may be displayed in-line as a visual representation of the file as the Official Printed Copy.

Viewer Examples
ABI Trace Viewer (.ab1)
The ABI Trace Viewer plugin will render any .ab1 sequence trace file as a pherogram, which users can scroll through directly on the notebook page to see the specific peaks for each residue in the sequence.

JMol Molecular Structure Viewer (.pdb, .mol, .xml)
The JMol Molecular Structure Viewer plugin will render a variety of molecular structure file-types (including .mol and .pdb) as inline 3d views which the user can interact with by clicking and dragging to rotate the display

Plain Text Viewer (.txt, .rtf)
The Plain Text viewer will display any simple text file (.txt or .rtf) inline, so that rather than seeing a file icon for this type of file the CERF users can see and edit the contents of the file directly inline.
Genbank Sequence Viewer (.gb, .gbk)
The Genbank Sequence Viewer plugin will parse any Genbank sequence file (.gb or .gbk) and display it as a visual sequence map. Various elements and tracks will be parsed out and displayed, and the user can zoom in and out, with the ultimate resolution at the level of displaying the actual sequence data.

SVG Image Viewer (.svg)
The SVG Image viewer will display any SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) image inline.

CERF Chemistry Structure Viewer, Editor, and Search (.mol, .sdf, .rxn, SMILES, .pdb, SMARTS/SMIRKS (recursive), .mrv, .cml, InChi, and others listed above).
The Notebook and File Viewer can display chemical structures and reactions. When MarvinSketch has been installed on a user’s machine , the chemical structures can also be opened for editing and saved back to the CERF server.
