Some options on the Main Menu will be enabled for selected Resources depending on your access role, the Resource type, and the Resource state. Note that some of the menu actions have hot keys.
Sessions Menu
| Log In | Retains your profile settings and launches the CERF login form |
| Log Out | Disconnects you from the server without closing the application |
| Manage Account | Launches the web interface through which you can change your password, view and edit any workgroup or signature group for a workgroup in which you are a workgroup admin, browse your collections, run a basic or advanced metadata search, and run a full-text search for any resources to which you have access. |
| Manage Workgroups | Shows any Workgroups that you can manage (i.e., you must be a Workgroup Administrator). You will be able to add/remove users to/from Workgroups and assign them access roles for those Workgroups. |
| Session Info | Shows the current username, server name and version, server IP address and port, and response time. |
| Exit (Ctrl+W) | Closes the CERF application |
Collections Menu

Show Collections (Ctrl+shift+C) |
Opens the list of Notebooks (displayed and hidden), File Cabinets, and Notebook Collections to which you have access and allows you to display selected Collections. Note that in order to see the Resources contained in a collection, the collection must be displayed (mounted) in the Document Tree. |
| Hide Collection | Hides a selected File Cabinet (or Notebook) that is displayed in the Document Tree |
| Sort Collections | Launches the Sort Collection Members dialog that allows you to change the order of collections (Notebooks and File Cabinets) in the Document Tree. |
| New Collection | Allows you to create a new collection (Notebook, Notebook Collection, or File Cabinet). Business policy determines whether Notebook creation is enabled for users or only for system administrators. |
History Menu
| Resource title and action | A list is generated during the current session that includes all Resources you have acted upon. An icon shows the action (e.g., View, Checkout and Edit, etc.). Right-click on the item to locate it in CERF. |
Bookmarks Menu

Add Bookmark (Ctrl+D) |
Bookmarks the selected item. |

Manage Bookmarks (Ctrl+shift+B) |
Opens the Bookmarks pane in the My CERF tab. |
Search Menu
|
Search (Ctrl+F) |
Launches the Keyword Search dialog, which allows you to search for CERF Resources using full-text and basic metadata. You will be able to retrieve only those Resources to which you have access. Note that you can run an advanced search from the web interface by selecting Manage Account from the Sessions menu. |

Chemical Structure Search |
If enabled on your system, allows those with the appropriate permissions to draw a chemical structure and then search their CERF database for this structure. |
Tools Menu
| Reports > Signature Reports | When your business policy is configured to send notifications for unsigned Notebook pages and if the unsigned pages are being tracked, the Signature Report lists all the pages you need to sign or cosign. |
| Manage Vocabularies | Those will the appropriate permissions can add and edit vocabularies. These vocabularies can be assigned to resources and then searched for. |

Options (Ctrl+Comma) |
Launches the Options dialog, which allows you to set these user preferences: Quick Add, Edit state for resource submission, default Internet browser, default double-click action, Notebook autosave interval, application manager to open files in a specified application, and logging options. |
Help Menu
| Tutorial | Basic “getting started” instructions for CERF. |
| Help Contents – (F1) on Windows OR (FN + F1) on MacOS | Opens the web help, which includes tutorials, the user manual, and other documentation for users and system administrators. |
| Email Support | Launches a dialog that allows you to email any problems you experience and gives you the option of attaching your CERF log file to the email (this will help the support team understand the problem. The email is sent to support@lab-ally.com |
| About (located in the Apple menu on a Mac) | Displays the CERF software version, date, copyright information, and a list of current components. Note: The components are updated with new CERF versions. |
